Okay I was in an accident. And it was my fault so I let the other person call their insurance company and give them my info. But this was like a week ago and my company still says there has been no claim reported. I thought that if it was your fault, you could just let the other person call their company, and that company would contact your insurance company… is this how im supposed to handle this? what should I do?

I have a client whose car got rear ended by another car and he is suffering a pretty bad knee injury due to the accident. Can he file a claim with the other persons insurance company even if he personally doesnt have auto insurance? I know in the state of California it is illegal to drive without car insurance, but does that mean he cant file a claim for his car and injuries? Thanks
